Can I claim child support payments on my taxes if I don't have receipts?

I have been giving my son's mom cash payments for child support. I never asked her for any receipts. Can I still claim the payments on my taxes?

It's best to talk to talk to an accountant. In general, you shouldn't claim expenses on your taxes without receipts because if the IRS wants proof of your deductions you may be in trouble. Because of that, it's best to get the receipts and save important documents when it comes to filing your taxes.
