I was wondering if anyone could recommend any good routines or lifting techniques for basketball?

For a good weightlifting workout tailored for basketball, try deadlifting, squats, and box jumps - but keep to a moderate weight on the squats and deadlifts. You want explosive power for a powerful vertical leap, so you'll want to train with that in mind. If you use very heavy weights, the muscle contraction won't be very fast. Really concentrate on an explosive movement when you're doing these exercises. Start with the squats and deadlifts, doing 3 or 4 sets of 8-12 reps, then move on to the box jumps for similar sets and reps, resting for between 60 and 120 seconds between each set. Doing resistance training first, followed by a plyometric, dynamic exercise like box jumps encourages the creation of type IIB muscle fibres which are responsible for generating explosive power.
